Week 6 of 5k training. Just run 1 mile in 12 minutes :-/

Wow, that is speedy! If that's comfortable for you then that's fine but don't feel you need to be running quickly during the programme, just make sure you get through the running intervals. As long as you're getting through the running intervals and make it to Week 9 injury free then that's fantastic. :)

Spot on. I got to Week 8 before I got that advice and it made the remaining runs much easier, with recovery from each run much quicker.

Yep, slow and steady is the mantra of the programme and helps to avoid injury as our bodies get used to the demands. Some people have a good base fitness or are just naturally quicker with long strides, etc, and that's fine too, as long as we're not pushing ourselves too much. :)
