Wk 7 Day 1 - slip sliding away......

Finally got to do Day 1 of Wk 7, 13 hours later than intended due to heavy snow & sleet last night. I woke up this morning, did a quick check through the window...fab, no snow, no glittery ice in the garden so the run was on! There was a few panicky moments when I couldn't locate my sports bra (an essential piece of my running kit) but it was soon found lurking beneath my t-shirt. So, kit donned, shoe & arm lights illuminated I set forth into the dark morning. Brisk 5 minute warm up started and I was 3/4 way through when I realised that I had selected the wrong music file; my attempt to reset it also reset the day's program so I had to skip through the walk to where I thought I was. All sorted & I started the run ...."Oops, I thought" as my foot hit ice and I skated a few inches forward. Luckily the dawn was breaking, which combined with the street lights were highlighting the icy areas on the path. I had to zigzag a bit across the path & run on the grass verge and run slowly where I had to run on the ice, but it all made the time pass quickly and before I knew it, Michael was telling me I had 5 minutes left. Not wanting to run up the incline back home & to vary my route a bit, I diverted along a farm path and ....ta da! 60 seconds left to run and then my running was all done. Along the route I was thinking of the 5k runs that I could sign up to this year so I'm off to do just that! What a great way to start the weekend!
