It happens or happened to many of us. Very well done
Welcome to this great forum and this wonderful journey.
Keep it slow and keep it steady. Loads of advice and support on here.. and some great tips for getting to Graduation injury free.
Listen to your body, don't be tempted to push too hard, and take those rest days.
Keep posting too.. it is great motivation... successes or set backs, we will be right here
Well done Shazzer! You are a mere chit of a girl😀 Go you! Go nice and slow and you will be ok.
It'll get better quickly. That first run is the hardest. Try to run very slowly.
Getting off the couch is always the hardest I am 65 and graduated 5 years ago but with many reasons not done much since then but back at it and completed week one but yes I struggled with breathing the first time. Dont go to fast it is better to slow down and complete runs.
Well done! That's brilliant, I have just finished week 1 and know exactly how you feel! It does get easier, I was shocked how much easier run 3 was than run 1. The best advice I had on here was to slow down, I found that really hard for some reason so I start off running slowly then force myself to go even slower and it does help. The temptation is always there to go a bit quicker but then I can't breathe so well! Keep up the good work
Welcome, Sharon, and well done for completing the first run! The C25k programme is brilliant, following it is one of the best decisions you'll ever make so stick at it and you'll continue to surprise yourself. Go slow, stretch, take your rest days and you'll be a runner before you know it!
The forum is one of the best places on the internet. It's full of incredible, inspirational people so do make use of it for advice, encouragement and to let everyone celebrate your successes with you! Post after your runs and let us know how you're getting on. We'll be with you every step of the way
Hi, do please stick at it, if you find a run too hard just repeat it until you feel ready to move on, this programme isn't a race its just a brilliant way to learn to run and to teach your body how to do it! Don't worry about your age as you will see from lots of posts on here there are many 'senior' runners! I started this programme 7 weeks ago with no real expectations just a 'oh I'll give it a go' attitude and I struggled with the runs in week 1, especially with the breathing and yet here I am 7 weeks later and I ran for a continuous 25 minutes this afternoon - no one is more amazed at that than me! Oh and I forgot to say ........ I turn 56 in 8 week's time :-)) Keep going and let us all know how you are getting on and if you need any help just ask.
Well done! You've made the hardest step - that first one out of the door. Just remember, slow and steady!
