Let's see how far I get this time

I have started this programme twice before - once in November 15 and once in March last year. I get to around week 4 and end up with the flu. Let's see how far I can get flu free this year. I'm on week 2 at the moment (fingers crossed). I don't suppose it helps having to get up at 5.45am on running days either.

It shows your mental strength that tire giving it another go, you should be proud of that. Last year I did all my exercise in the morning before work, at around 4.30 in the morning. Fortunately my schedule is more flexible at the moment, but in order to maintain those early starts you really need to go to bed early, often unsociably early. I also made sure that on Non exercise days that I tried to wake up early too, otherwise the body doesn't get used to a rhythm and early starts never get easier. Back to the mental side of things, it sounds like you're absolutely determined to do this, which is fantastic. But it took me a long time to be forgiving when I had set backs. So, if you get flu or another illness again, don't see it as a failure (this took me a while), but rather embrace the journey (and other trite sayings like that, which really are true), and just jump back on the horse when you're better. It might take longer than 9 weeks, it did for me, but you will get there if you keep at it. Best of luck and keep us updated.

Stay on it! Stick like glue. It's the way to be, not just running wise 🙂

Good luck 🙂 Roll on spring and lighter mornings 😀

And when you've finished and have been running regularly for a while your immune system will be so strong from all that fresh air. Then you can say goodbye to flu!

Best time of the day! :)

Right.. time to do this?

Put your gear out to warm somewhere the night before...( mine goes on the radiator); plan your route and make sure you have you warm togs, and especially a hat and a neck buff!!

You need to be organised and positive... no thinking about the previous attempts.. this is a new start. Banish ideas of flu, ( avoid folk who have it if possible) ,like you do the pesky mind gremlins.

Forget the past, forget mistakes, forget set backs. Just focus on what you are going to do from this moment forward...

PS

Warm shower after the run..lots of good immune-boosting healthy food and go for it!

Watching for your next post! :)
