I know its not really c25k relevant, hopefully admins wont mind, its just since this is where it all started I thought I would put it here as well as on the correct section.

My wife and I having both completed couch to 5k at some point, me 4 years ago and again 2 years ago along with my wife, have just signed up for an epic event.

We celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary this year and are going to Walt Disney World in Florida, where we went on honeymoon, to mark the event. We have since discovered that while we are there there is a runDisney Star Wars Darkside weekend.

So obviously we had to sign up for some running, when else are we going to get the chance to run round Disney?

But which event? 5k? 10k? Half marathon? Nah if your going that far you may as well do it properly! So we have both signed up for the Darkside Challenge, 10k on Saturday followed by Half marathon on Saturday. The 19.3 mile challenge.

We have been doing 10ks round forests every 2 weeks since November, so are starting off at a decent level. We now have 13 weeks to prepare for this.

A bit concerned at the two running days in a row, not to mention the 5am race start time, Florida weather, both with type 1 diabetes and insulin pumps, not to mention what to dress up as!

So there burning question I have for all you c25kers out there is what do we choose?

Lightside or Darkside?

I would err on the Light side..but I am older. I would probably choose, on this sort of lovely celebratory occasion... the thing I knew I could do confidently, and would enjoy the process:)

It would be horrid to challenge yourselves too much and end up crocked!!

For me it is all about enjoyment... :)

Whichever choice you make will be right for you, I feel.. and either way..May the Force be with You!

Absolutely, we are going to be running together, usually I run for the time but this will be for the memories and photos!

We have been doing 10ks all winter so that one isn't an issue. and we both did half marathon in September so that too is possible, its just the two together. But with a 16 minute per mile cutoff, we have said even if we walk the last few miles it will still be a great experience.

Good for you! Can't wait to see the photos.

And it's great to hear it all began with C25k. Bet you never thought you'd get to the level you're at now!

What a lovely post. It never ceases to amaze me the different things we can all do with our running journey. Making 10 year Wedding anniversary runs together in Disney World sounds epic to me. Have a great time and don't forget to take some photos to share with us. You'll do it no problem and like you say if you need some walking breaks that's fine too. Happy running to you both.
