'Practice' graduation run

So I was a bit naughty and did R1 and R2 of week 9 on consecutive days, because I had really hoped to graduate today as it is my birthday. R2 was actually amazing too! It was my fastest run, and I didnt even feel like I was struggling at any point!

But then this morning - everything went wrong and I gave in to the gremlins at 20mins in. First, my front zipped sports bra came undone, so I had to stop to do that up again. Thats not so, bad so i kept going, and ended up choking on a fly! Stopped again to get that one out, but still managed to keep going. Then not one but both of my shoelaces came undone! I have been running in these same shoes since about week 3, and this is the first time this had happened. So had to stop again to tie these up again. Kept going, but at around the 20minute mark I could feel a blister starting to form on what is usually my good blister-free foot, so I gave up. Even then, walking back I nearly fell over moving off the path onto gravel so someone with grumpy dogs could pass :(

So I am a bit disappointed, but I guess it just wasnt meant to be :( So close now though!

Oh that is annoying, but I really think you should take heed of the rest days. I totally understand why you ran two on consecutive days, but the rest days are so important too. Good luck with your final run. 😀 👏🏻👏🏻 🏃🏼‍♀️🏃🏻🏃🏼‍♀️🏃🏻🎓🎓

Tut tut.... some people would say that was a judgement because you missed a rest day!:)

A bit naughty, but I can understand you wanting it as a birthday run!

Happy Birthday!!!! :)

So... get the blister better, then, after a good rest... fasten your bra properly, tighten the laces on your shoes, keep your mouth closed, and go for graduation.

Slow and steady as you make your way to the podium.. the badge is polished and waiting and McFitty has the champagne on ice!!! :)

Haha I definitely did think maybe it was karma..... But I have learned my lesson and will rest up before the next attempt! Im not sure that I can run with my mouth closed though - I never feel like I am getting enough air breathing through my nose.... but in these parts it really was just a matter of time until it happened, and Im sure it will happen again....

Your fastest run? How do you know how fast you are running on the programme? Choruses of more annoying "Uuuuummmmm"s on top of those for consecutive running days.

But oh, I do feel for you with that catalogue of mini-disasters. It will make the graduation run taste all the sweeter though when it comes, very soon (so long as it doesn't taste of fly)

I have a garmin watch that records pretty much everything I could ever want to know :) Its pretty amazing - and even though my fastest is still ridiculously slow Im happy with it!

Awh that's a real shame.

How sweet your grad run will be - a belated birthday present, something to look forward to. 😀

Happy pre grad Birthday!

Happy birthday. Look at it this way. You get two days celebration instead of one - a birthday and a graduation day. :)

Happy Birthday motherduckling 🌹

I think that missing a rest day scuppered your chances today too..it gave those gremlins a chance to mess with your stuff..("she's not following the rules") 😉

Enjoy your birthday, rest up then give that Graduation Run your full attention and enjoy the success.

You are wearing a birthday badge today instead.😄🎂

Hope that blisters heals quickly.

Happy Birthday! Please don't worry. I think it's so easy to look at the graduation run as the end but really it's only the beginning! That run is just one of countless runs you have ahead of you so, although the graduation run is a special one, that's only because we place importance on it. Go out there in a couple of days and make your graduation run the first of many runs to come! :)

Happy birthday! I'll just echo everyone else - enjoy today for what it is, and try your graduation run again in a couple of days, and enjoy that day too! :)

That sounds really irritating, especially as you were so close to graduating. However it will make your final Week 9 Run 3 seem even more special when you complete it.

Enjoy the rest of your birthday.

Good Luck.
