Just done r3 of w1 and that's after a 9 hour on my feet more or less in the kitchen at work! I was determined to go out tonight especially as that wind had dropped and , although cold, it wasn't as cold as I thought. I'm enjoying the podcast as I go, it's really good, like I've got someone with me. I can't believe I did it after work but I actually wanted to go!!! My legs ached before I went but a change of footwear helped and I soon forgot about aching.
My ultimate goal would be to run for a decent distance without huffing and puffing away with a red face but, as they say, one step at a time.
To all you out there that run after work, .. Do you have dinner before you go? Before it gets too late in the evening? Obviously you don't go running straight after a meal but then to go running straight from work is ok if you still have the energy and can wait to eat, and then that means also that it could still be light and therefore can be seen!
Do you know what I mean?

I run after work during the week - as a teacher I am on my feet all day, but I find it gives me a way to wind down my mind (and tire out my body). I tend to go as soon as I have got home and then eat when I get back. At the moment this does mean I'm running in the dark, but I stick to the local housing estates (which are enough of a warren to mean I can change my route regularly or just add an extra wiggle or go a different way down a road). I try and have a snack about an hour or 2 before I'm going to run, and some water when I'm getting changed and that usually sees me through.
Well done for getting out there - sometimes it's tough after a long day!!
If I can, I try to run as soon as I get home, before I have dinner. My commute is an hour door to door, so I'll sometimes have a light snack before I leave the office if I'm starting to feel quite hungry by then. Otherwise it's tea when I get in and a run a couple of hours later. It's quite late to be heading out - anywhere from 9 to 9.30 by the time I'm leaving the house - but I have various lights to ensure I can see and be seen
If you can, I'd go out as soon as you get home from work. Then have your supper when you get home. I think it's much harder to go out after your supper as I think you're supposed to leave it 1.5-2 hours before running. It's only 30 minutes, if you're really hungry, perhaps you could eat a banana before you travel home from work? I found by the time I got to week 4/5 I wasn't as hungry afterwards either. Better to drink plenty of water, keep hydrated. Good luck! 👏🏻👏🏻😀😀🏃🏼♀️🏃🏻🏃🏼♀️🏃🏻
Thankyou for your replies. I will try to eat after a run. I have gone for a run after my dinner and it's ok but, yes, it would be a better run before eating, it's only because I prefer to run in the dark, I feel very conscious when it's light. Silly I know and eventually I will just have to get used to it but I don't feel like I want anyone else to see me yet.!
I will have something such as a banana before I leave work.
