Hi I started the couch to 5k today . I feel a little disheartened that I couldn't finish it . I ran 4 times instead of 6 and walked the rest. Has anyone else had this experience π
C25k: Hi I started the couch to 5k today . I... - Couch to 5K
C25k
Don't worry! It's just the start. If you're new to exercise don't be surprised. The beauty of C25k is that it's progressive and you build up your fitness as you chew up the sessions. Go very, very slowly. It's key to it.
Enjoy it, don't worry. We've all been there but come out the other side capable of running a solid 20 minutes. Unthinkable today but you may have faith in the programme to deliver. Many thousands of people have done it, many of them here today.
I know just reading some of the comments here.Amazing!!! I'm now looking forward to Sunday for my second session . Just to clarify do I do it every second day ?π
Oh yes! Have a day off between runs. You can do other exercise though of course. Walking is great! I walk all over the place now. You could swim, walk, gym, dance. Anything as long as it's not running. Take things steady though. Don't go mad!
I would say that's a great start - keep it up. Maybe try to repeat the first session? Keep it going!
You kept moving and didn't stop, tha's the main thing. You'll manage it next time, I'm sure.
Thank you maddee . Yes next run is Sunday so I look forward to that . Are you doing the c25k long ??
I started aged nearly 57, having never run a yard! I am now 59 and running regularly and have lost a lot of weight on the way.
As most people have already stated, you kept going. There is no rush. Just keep repeating the session until you complete it. Try and target yourself to get 5 runs next time and then move on to the full 6. You'll be surprised how quickly your body gets used to it as you improve fitness.
My favourite motivation quote is that it doesn't matter how slow you go, you're going faster than you on the couch.
Keep at it.
You finished two thirds of the running sessions - that's way more than the people who sat on the sofa watching tv, so feel proud of yourself. C25K is not a race, it's a journey.
Are you listening to a C25K podcast as you run? - mine has 8 running sessions of 60 seconds of each in Week 1, and the same run is repeated on day 2 and day 3 before moving onto a longer run/walk in Week 2. If you have only 6 running segments in week 1 then perhaps you're running for longer and a shorter time with more repetitions may suit better?
You made a start, well done! that's the main thing, keep at it, you will improve, try not to be disheartened it will come.. and you will do it, be positive!π
Well done on starting. That's a huge step in itself. Having to repeat some sessions isn't a problem. I'm sure most people on here have done that at least once, and remember everyone is starting from a different level of fitness (or lack of), so don't be too hard on yourself. You ran 4 of the 6 sessions, so that two thirds - well over half. Good luck for the next run and keep us posted on your progress.
Trust the programme! You will do it, but you might need to have more than one go at completing some runs. I certainly did.
Stick with it like everyone else has said. At least you are out there having a go. I am a newbie too so know how you feel.
I have been saying all week that I'm going to start The Couch to 5K plan but seem to find it hard to leave the house! At least you have started! All I've done is find pathetic excuses. Plus eating all the Xmas food so in my mind I'm thinking there's no point now after what I've eaten!
I know how you feel . Yesterday was my second day on the c25k . I woke up feeling so unmotivated but I just put the runners on and went for it . It was really tuff had to stop pause it once to catch my breath . But I muddled through and did it . It's not easy but how would it be when I haven't excercised in years . You just need to have a little faith in yourself do it for you xxxx
As one of my great friends says, "You never regret a run". Not always true, but it is about 99% of the time...!! Getting out and getting into the routine is far more important at the beginning than hitting set goals. Everyone to their own pace - if week 1 is hard at the start, just do it for 2 weeks rather than 1 ! Progression will come....
