C25K week one day one.. complete!

Have had the app on my phone for too long and finally used it tonight. Chest hurts, my legs are freezing and burning at the same time from the cold and my ears sting... but I survived. Time for a cup of tea, here's to doing it all again!

Well done🎉 You sound just like me a few days ago, apart from it nearly killed me😳 Sounds like you did just fine👍 There's lots of us new uns around so you're in good company😉 And as for those that have been here longer, you could not ask for any more support, advice, kind words, inspiration and encouragement 😀 Good luck👍

Welcome to the forum twentyseventeen, you've done the hardest run -the very first one! Running can be challenging at this time of year, to make sure you're warm enough but not too warm. A headband is good for keeping your ears warm and gloves will stop your hands freezing (and the skin drying out!) A buff is great to breathe through to warm up the air before it hits your lungs, but don't get a thermal buff -they're so hot you'll feel like you're on fire after a few hundred metres.

The best advice I can give you is to go really slowly -the programme is all about duration not speed or distance covered. You can work on speed later if you choose to. My other piece of advice is to stretch properly after each run to keep the post-run aches and pains away. If you check out the pinned posts at the side of the page you'll find the NHS guides to how to run and stretch properly. They're both packed with good advice and well worth reading. Good luck with your running journey. :) 🍀

No matter how hard the run, it is always easier than coming up with excuses for why you didn't do it at all.

Well done!

Glad I’m not the only one who had aches and pains after run 1! Hope it gets easier? Run 2 today.
