Exercise alongside C25k?

Just looking for ideas to do alongside C25k, I'm on week 6. Ideally looking for something maybe that has a bit of structure like C25k but also something that might help with back pain.

Try the links on the C25K site... (or from Health Unlocked)..for strength and flex.. they are useful. Many of us used these alongside the programme. I did them on rest days and still use them occasionally. There are also links for other forms of exercise too.

Found this link, it might be useful :)

I do yoga, walking and swimming too, although at the moment.. most of my extra exercise is walking miles and miles with new granddaughter in her pram! :) About nine miles a day!

For general strength and core training it might be worthwhile looking at the 'Sculpt' section of Tony Horton's 'P90' program. The exercises are easy to do and follow, take around 1/2 hour per day and can be done at whatever rate and level is appropriate for your fitness level.

If you are new to exercise then you need rest between sessions

Yoga or structured stretch/balance programme and swimming are probably going to be most helpful

If back pain is a new problem then might be worth seeing a sports physio - might be something about your posture or shoes that is tweaking your back

I suffer from lower back pain and it was one of the reasons I took up running in the first place! Pilates is the one thing that works for me and really eases and strengthens the back. It's also a great complement to running as it works on the core.

Either find a class locally in a gym or village hall or find a good clip on YouTube. However, if you haven't done Pilates before then I do think a few sessions with a qualified teacher works wonders and then you'll know how to do the basics right and can do them yourself whenever you need to.

I have lower back pain constantly, to the point i cant stand up straight after sitting for a while. Just got a "wondercore" for press ups, arms, legs, sit ups. So far i love it. It supports my back exactly where needed & i can feel muscles in my stomach that have long been unused. Can feel benefit to my back already.

Also trying swimming. Do enjoy it but expensive & have to travel 30 mins to pool. As only doing breast stroke it hurts my neck which adds to back pain. Persevering tho.
