I don't like running!

That was always my excuse. However with my usual hobby of dog agility training & competition coming to a halt & being furloughed I thought I'd give this plan a go. I have an ideal route around country lanes which is 4.8K. I have just completed week 6 and am really enjoying it. I have had the company of Merry, my very fit working cocker spaniel which works well until a squirrel runs across the lane in front of us :). I would like to say to anyone just starting out is don't go too fast, enjoy it and you will be surprised at what you can do.

Today, at the end of my run I was told that I was officially a runner!

Congratulations on completing run 3 of week 6, correct, you are now OFFICIALLY a RUNNER, onwards and upwards to week 7.

Congratulations 🎉🥳That is a milestone run on the program. No more interval runs Hurray 😀

I have also hated running with a passion since school days (over 35 years ago now) and my exercise of choice is swimming.

Lockdown forced a rethink - hence I started C25K.I'm currently on run 3 of week 8 and, I never thought I would say this, am actually enjoying this journey.

I agree totally with you - relax, take it slowly, don't fixate on distance but concentrate on time you are running for and enjoy your journey.

Good luck for the rest of the program

Well done, I took this up in January 2019 to help with my agility and after graduation it made such a difference. Keep going you will see in time.

Congratulations on being a runner 😊I’m just one week ahead of you and also thought I couldn’t do it - it feels fab doesn’t it 😊 I have a bonkers working cocker and sadly haven’t so far trusted him to run with me as we’re surrounded by rabbits and he has a one track nose! Merry is obviously much better behaved 🤣 I just wondered if you have her on a waist lead and if so how do you find that? I’d love to pluck up the courage to take him with me because I can tell already I’ve caught the running bug and would love to share it with Brodie. 😊

Thank you for your message. Merry is also bonkers & loves to chase wildlife, pheasants, rabbits, squirrels anything really. I have a steady and leave command - they don't work 😩

I do run with her attached to me and she has learnt as we've gone along. If you wanted to start now it might be an idea to try on your rest days with walking him just so he gets the idea. It's lovely to have the company. Good luck

Good plan, thank you :) the bonkers bit is definitely part of the charm! He's our first working cocker, we had border collies before . . . . . . . . Good luck with completing C25k.

I've had border collies in the past and I also have a collie x Springer. Cockers are a breed apart 🤣🤣
