Well flossie 22 all this excitement of π π s, park runs, barcodes got me going o & the first time trying c25k+ π my goodness Laura were you meant to be talking that fast!!! Ah that was to get me in the beatππ !! It was really good to try, yes try! As it was a challenge all this changing beats & counting 1,2,3,4. (At least I managed that partπ) however made it to the end and did a personal best!! Still slow but better than I was so quite chuffed. O my it was cold though maybe that's why I ran faster!!! Now was it von 99 or flossie 22who was also aiming for 3times a weekπ can't mind but how did you get on & what did you think of c25k+. It was a bit fast for me but il keep tryingππ happy running everyone in this nippy weatherπ°π°x Phyllis
3rd run of the week! made it withc25k+ - Couch to 5K
3rd run of the week! made it withc25k+
Bravo for getting your 3 runs in, for trying a park run and for trying the c25k+. I also managed to get three runs in and tried c25k+ speed and stamina. I found the stamina one tough and must admit I stopped with two minutes to go!!! Where as the speed one completely baffled me. I found the slow running too slow and couldn't get in the rhythm at all. I also found it too short so carried on to make it half an hour. I don't think I'll do that one agin, but will persevere with the stamina one. Maybe I'll give the stepping stones one a go this week. Good luck with your three runs this week. π
Hi it was stepping stones I did & like you last 2 mins hard going I must try stamina one too! O I haven't done the park run yet a few of us on here are planning our first one on Christmas eve! You should join us too!! The c25k+ so different but I am trying to vary my runs each time so I don't get bored! Tired but not bored ha ha!! That third run hard to get fitted in yet I managed it on c25k! Strange isn't itπx
It's funny, I too got out of sink with my runs which I never did with c25k!!! Felt so good when I squeezed the third one in at the weekend though!!! Unfortunately there aren't any park runs near me, but I'll be entering my first race (4.8km) in three weeks time which is quite exciting!!! I'm planning to alternate between an easy run and a challenging run to keep my interest up. Keep up the good work!!!!
I've listened to the intro for stepping stones, and am aiming to have a go at it but even the walk sounds fast!
It was I thought I could talk fast but Laura I think was on fast forward!! All the time!! I will try it again but I think it will take me a long time to keep up with herππ
Stepping Stones is hard at first, but believe me it gets easier. so much so that yesterday I wanted a quick run (quick as in not out in the rain too long). But I found it hard to keep the beat for the first section - it was too slow for me! So stick at it, you can do it. NB, I have done that run about 8 times.
Also, I really didn't like the Speed podcast but had a rule of doing each at least 3 times (mix and match) and the third time I ran it "just to get it out of the way". Guess what, it went well, i really enjoyed it and still do it every 2 or 3 weeks, especially if I can only fit in a short run.
Stamina is good, again I found it improved over time, just like a ripe cheese
Interesting one here Phylis, I did SS with intro and I felt that it wasn't the pace I wanted to run at, as it didn't feel natural and I was slower, but I did manage to run a longer distance, so I don't really understand that one. π€When Laura said slow down at the end, it felt too soon, so I nearly got to my favourite lamppost but have to admit fell short, but think I had been running for an extra 700 metres. I am going to have a go at the second podcast on Tuesday, I reckon. My rowing buddies are a wee wimpy in the rain and Tuesday looks like rain βοΈ is forecast to me.
You're so clever to have managed the counting element, all I had in my head was Henning Wehn "eins, zwei, DIY".
Well Phylis, we're new running buddies and I am a weather watcher to boot! Happy Monday and happy running to you ππΌββοΈππΌββοΈππ
Yes you have a lot to answer toπ! It's so funny as I am the same I check the weather for the week ahead & try to plan my runs round it! So glad I went yesterday as tonight even colder ! It was a strange podcast as you right the 30 mins included warm up & cool down but as I'd done a long run on Friday I was happy at that! I'm going to try and mix them about in preparation for the big oneπ π running buddieππx
Yes, today seemed very cold here too! I'll try the second podcast, whatever that is! Busy day today, no time to look at it yet βΉοΈ Happy running, running buddie πππΌββοΈπ ππΌββοΈπ
Me too think it's a stamina one!! Keep up the good workππππ
Omg, stamina!!! That's going to be hilarious π hope I don't meet the vicar's wife again when I look absolutely on my knees, although then again, she might think I'm praying. π
Well done! I have to get my 3 runs in now don't I - you'll all be running past my window looking at me slumped on the couch and pulling faces at me! I'm gping to look at these new podcasts, at the moment I just keep redoing week 9, cant leave the security of Laura yet!
Laura is on c25k+ Von with new running tips to try.π
It's worth trying! Laura talks at double speed!!! Il have to try a good few times to keep up with her let alone catch her!! Mind you she is maybe on a mission to see if you are off the couch for your runππ it's not easy on these cold nights!! Glad I'm on rest dayππhappy running x
I think Laura is on all of them, so don't you worry. As for Pc59 and me pulling faces at you on the couch, we'd be wearing our Santa hats singing carols through your window until you couldn't stand it any longer and just had to go out running, much faster than us, to get away from our choral duet! Tee hee.
Well done. Those runs are hard. I enjoy cracking them out when I'm feeling like something different.
Well done Pc59 π
Laura suggests you keep yourself upright and take short light steps (lift the heels a bit like a cycling motion).
1 2 3 4.... lol its good honestly, each foot lands as you count. Great for your core muscles taking the short strides too. (Think prancing pony)...π
Well done on the 3 runs. Remember you still have Week9 to fall back on as well.
Happy runningπ
I must admit I do fall back to week nine quite a bit but you are right I did find I took shorter strides just to get the beat but it wasn't easy I had to slow down a few times but still did my personal best so was chuffed but a shorter run than usual but nice for a change!! I will keep trying it though!πx
There is so much to take in as need to build up stamina to do the distance! It certainly is a learning curve!!ππππ
I had my first go at Stepping Stones today in a relatively dry interlude in the rain. The walk does seem pretty fast so I was wondering how I'd cope with the running part but actually it was almost a relief after the fast walk. Them when the speed went up I was thinking I might not manage the whole podcast but it got better as it went on. That last faster bit was hard work though! I think I need to do it a few times to get confident with it.
Well done on getting your three runs in! Can I join your 3 runs a week club please? I've managed it since my graduation - well, more or less cos of some horrid weather - so would be nice to have some running buddies
ππ π»π€ CarolStr . Are you going to join our virtual choir too? π π»π π»ππΌββοΈππΌββοΈ
Only if there are no windows within earshot of my dulcet tones - broken glass will be expensive to fix on Christmas Eve!!
Carol I'd love to have you as a running buddieππππI need all the help I can get as so easy to sit on the couch!! Last week was my first I got the 3 runs in as the two weeks before I was on hols and then visitors!! So welcome to the 3runs a week club!!πI'm due out tomorrow/ Wednesday. Prefer tomorrow but I'm late home so might be Wednesday ! Il let you know how it goes! ππ
Hi running buddy! I'm due out today, Thursday and Sunday (depending on weather - I'm a bit of a weather watcher and the wind is whistling down the chimney as I speak Plan is to do intervals today (W1R1 of C25K, just at a faster pace - well the run bit anyway) and then *fingers and toes crossed* I hoping to crack my first 5k on Thursday!
I tried Stepping Stones but didn't get on with it - hated the music and couldn't find a rhythm so will make my own SS with Bryan Adams, Blondie, Bruce etc
Hope you manage to get out today and have a good one.
Hi πbuddiesπ carolstr, flossie22 & von99 how's it going this week ?
