So it's 2 weeks until the 5k event I'd registered for as a post C25K target. I decided to try a park run yesterday to get a better idea of the distance and also running with others.
I didn't need to worry too much about running with others, despite the 700+ others I was soon in a thinned out group of 1... Ahead of the tail walkers but behind most of the pack. I had planned just to jog 28 mins, but I decided to try a little further... Then a Marshall was encouraging me, so I went a little more... Then I could see the end of the course. So I did it... I jogged the 5k.
Just over 45 mins, tearful crossing the line with pride that I'd managed it (& tiredness) ... And thankfully legs have been OK today.
Going into my last runs with a bit more confidence now. Thinking I need to try a little bit of hills if I can in the routes, as the 5k event is 50‰ up hill... which is what I'm most concerned about now I know I can technically manage the distance.
