New shoes Mark II

The bright pink Mizuno shoes had to go back to the shop. I had worn them round the house and they just did not feel right. The girl in the shop was very helpful but they don't do refunds and she had to get the manager to sort out a credit note for me. He was pretty officious, tbh, and totally unsympathetic/uninterested. Snapped at me that he didn't even have to give me a credit note. Won't be going back there again in a hurry.

Trotted off down to Decathlon and got these blue beauties. I was in there a couple of weeks ago but husband was champing at the bit to be gone so I couldn't try any on. Wish I had sent him packing because I could have got these then and saved myself the whole sorry business.

I think we'd all like to know the name of the shop so we can avoid it (was it part of Sports Direct... it goes by so many names and one of the many reasons to avoid it is its refund policy).

Whilst we don't have a legal right to a refund if there's nothing faulty, there are plenty of places we can use which will in these circumstances.

It was Sweatshop. I hadn't realised that they were part of Sports Direct until I looked it up.

I am slightly more likely to buy stuff from Sports Direct although a refund would have been more satisfactory of course. I am aware of my consumer rights but call me old fashioned, but I am always happier if I get good customer service. Even if they had been an independent shop, the manager's attitude stank.

Yes, Asics. I am a fan too :) But each style seems to fit quite differently. These ones are a full size bigger than my old ones.

Yes, I'm in my third pair of Gel kayano's, and this version are the best I've had yet, I'm a size and a half up on my shoe size. I am very fortunate we've got a small independent running/triathlon store nearby and they are great, treat everyone the same whether you are a beginner or pro, they do thorough gait analysis every time - although you do pay top whack for the shoes.......I think it's worth it.

Hope these shoes serve you better.

They may well get their first run tomorrow if I can get myself out of the door early enough :)

Aw the pink ones looked great, but these look good do and if they're more comfortable then that's what you need. Happy running :-).

As for the man in the shop did anybody never teach him a little kindness goes a long way!

Another Asics fan here. They're so comfortable and bouncy. Such a shame Sweatshop got taken over by SD, they used to be wonderful *sigh*

Well, you know, I posted a picture of green Mizunos a few weeks ago. Like you, I wore them round the house and they didn't feel right - like they were throwing my feet out - so I took them back and exchanged them (no hassle) for a pair of Brooks which was the type I was secretly wanting! They have been great. This was a local independent running shop.
