New here and up to week 5!

I'm new here and I've just completed my first run of week 5. I found it exhausting and I'm already worried about the 20 minute run at the end of the week...

I just did Week 5 Run 1 this morning, which was fun. I did actually previously get up to Week 8 Run 3 then had to take a break when I had surgery, so I started again at week 1. I remember Week 5 Run 3 from Early September and it was ok. I think as long as you take the run at a slow even pace you will be ok. Plus the other runs in this week get you prepared for it.

When are you doing your other two runs? Mine are scheduled for Thursday and Saturday. Hopefully we'll both have a successful week. :-)

Thank you for the encouraging words! I will try to run Thursday and Saturday too but it depends on my work schedule. It is quite hot here today so I'm wondering if that hindered me. I tried doing the C25K a couple of years ago and gave up at week 4 (I am the most 'unsporty' person imaginable), but have restarted with the support of a friend. I'm impressed I've come this far and I'm determined to continue, but the jump from 5 minutes running to 20 mins is daunting!

It's funny looking back , I'm just on week 7, the 20 mins is fine it was week 6 where I found it tough back at intervals

Just go slowly after I did 20 I thought a 10 min run would be easy and I would say too quickly , sometimes although we know we need to go slowly we sometimes are so happy we are running we get carried away .

Go for it wait until you get to end of week 6 , life is good , but just go easy with the runs 😜

Well done coming so far. This is awesome. Regarding that 20 mins - You will be fine trust me. Its all in the head and that is what Laura would also say in that days podcast. Just trust yourself. You have reached so far and your body and you are ready for that 20 minutes. Most of all enjoy it.

I'm at exactly the same point as you. Literally just got in from week 5 run 1. I'm feeling a little worried about run 3 of this week too. It seems a big jump doesn't it? My mind's telling me no but I'm trying not to let my head win. I shall be completing (maybe a little optimistic) run 3 on Saturday night. (Rock n roll!) Haha!!

Best wishes to you and good luck! 💪🏻

You will be ok I can assure you.

I was worried sick about week 5 run 3 and was really surprised when I realised I could do it. The way the program is set up you will find that your legs will just do it. You will be amazed, euphoric and you will tell every one about it. You will get a kick out of it.

Let us know how you went

Wahooo I did it! I won't say it was easy tho, my gremlins came along for the ride and I had head wind and rain. I had to keep moving and I did it! Even cried a little happy tear at the end. Let me know how you get on today. I read a few inspirational quotes before I left the house which helped a little bit! 💪🏻💪🏻👍🏻X

Well done you! I did it too, but it wasn't pleasant! There was a moment (around 12 minutes) when I thought 'I can do this' but as soon as I heard Laura saying I had 5 more minutes, I thought I might just die. I haven't sorted out my breathing yet: it feels very tight at the beginning and I can't breathe in through my nose and out through my mouth, for love nor money. I haven't even dared to look at what happens in week 6!

Well done you that's brilliant! I have similar difficulties and hope that with time it will become second nature. I live in hope! I have looked at week 6. It ends with a big one again! I haven't repeated a week yet but I'm thinking this might be the week x
