Signed up for first 5k run before turning 50

I enjoy running on my own and to be honest I am a bit scared of running at an organised event incase I am the slowest. But promised myself when I started C25k that I would do one before my 50th birthday. So I have signed up. Actually looking forward to it.Determined to be fit and 50.

Good luck - I was thinking just the same thing myself, I said I'd do a parkrun after graduation, but I'm just being shy - we can do it!

I'm a similar age and once I graduate I'm hoping to take it in turns doing all my local park runs on Saturday mornings!! 💪🏻🏃‍♀️

Being slower than other people is an incredibly generous thing to be.......it means somebody else will not be.

Most regular runs publish the finishing times, so it is possible to see whether you are likely to be last before the event.

Good for you. Fit and 50 sounds like a great plan to me. Racing is FUN! I was 56 when I started C25k, and once I started racing I became hooked. It's an absolute blast! You are really only competing against yourself so where you come really doesn't matter a stuff.

As soon as the gun goes off folks get all daft and giggly. That's just the men!

As long as you train properly for your event you should do well. Good luck! By the way, we have a racing community on here. Do pop across and say hello

We have a range of folks that walk the entire race, to speed demons under 20 minutes. It's very fun, and it's all about you. I encourage you to give it a try.
