My first "Practice Run" πŸ™

I've steadily made my way to week 7 run 3, but tonight I just couldn't get to 25 mins, and only got to 19 mins. I'm on holiday in Tenerife and it's a lot more hilly and hot than I'm used to, and I just run out of energy. Even the walk back to the hotel was really hard work, and I'm a bit gutted. I did go to the gym earlier today for the first time in years, so I reckon that took a bit energy from me, plus I was really thirsty at the end so a bit dehydrated I think. Anyway, I've read that there are good and bad runs, and this 19 minute effort is my worst so far. Still, I wouldn't have believed I could do it 6 weeks ago, and what a lovely route I found. A days rest and try again

The bad ones are discouraging but fortunately happen only occasionally. I'm sure the next one will go well. You weren't that far off and there were many contributing variables. Enjoy the next one on your lovely route!

Everyone has good and bad days and, as you say, 6 weeks ago you would have been delighted with 19 minutes. You're on holiday, enjoy, go with the flow and all will be well. Happy running :-)

It does happen to us all and you MUST take into account the fact you are on holiday so your expectations have to be adjusted for climate, hills, etc. Don't worry and on't overdo it! Like you say, keep in mind how far you've come and try again next time. :)

You did fine :) As well as building up the habit of running, I think we also have to build up the habit of being as understanding of ourselves as we would be if anyone else had posted their 'downs' :)

Well done for even attempting the run when you are on holiday, you've run 19 minutes more than everyone lying on sun loungers by the pool! So a great practice and as you say, you've sussed out a great route for next time! X

I live in the South of France and over summer I cut my mileage by about half - it's so hard to run in the heat. I know you're disappointed, anyone would be. Don't try and do gym on the same day next time, there's only so much our bodies can take! You'll crack it next time if you plan carefully, find out when the coolest part of the day is - probably morning rather than evening like UK, take some water if you think you'll need it, good luck xx

Hats off for keeping running on holiday and as you say - just a practice and 19 minutes is still a run πŸ˜€ Have a great holiday!

19 minutes running is excellent, like you say 6 weeks ago..... All them factors add up to a not so good run, but hey you got out there and ran. Take your days rest and you'll be ready to get out again. I think keeping the momentum up is a key factor. Enjoy your holiday, πŸŒŸπŸ˜„πŸŒŸ
