You look great ! I love your runners , gorgeous colours :-)

Oh I wouldn't worry too much about the little 'uns ! I was playing cat and mouse once with a little lad who mustve been about 8 years old, tiny little thing he was , with little spindly legs. Finally overtook him only for him to blast past me to the finishing line leaving me for dust Ha ha :-D

That's a really good time for a 5k too, I would be very happy with that , Well done ! :-) xxx

It's not a race, and it doesn't matter in the slightest where you came. It takes some folks over an hour as they walk run it or just walk it. It matters not as long as you finish the job. You will get quicker as your legs get stronger. You just have to keep plugging away. Parkrun is a great way to do that. It's a great environment to run in.

Nothing humiliating about that! That's a good time and lovely photo.

Not sure what you mean by humiliation. That's a good time for a 5k and from the photo you've obviously got that runners style so nothing to worry about.

Humiliation: being overtaken by 6 year olds! Lol

No. Humiliation is being overtaken by speeding tortoises!

Despite your sense of disappointment over the time posted, your second park-run did provide you with a new PB, something that you ought to be proud of, in addition to being something that you can improve upon during your next park run.

On the assumption that you're a novice/returner the time really isn't bad at all (11 min/per mile). As such, consider it a small victory, since progress is being made.

Don't worry about speed, as it'll come with increased endurance. For now, simply enjoy placing one foot in front of the other (and the 'high' you may feel at the end).

I think that is a fantastic time!! Good job rammsteinqueen ;)

I'm still walking on air because I did 5k in forty minutes this morning LOL :) We really do compete with ourselves don't we :)

Indeed. Since running can prove to be a lonely existence, we're in competition with nobody else but ourselves.

33.59 is not bad. Your time will improve.

I haven't done a park run yet. Working up to that but all I would say is YOU ARE DOING IT and that is all that matters. Did you think weeks ago you would be posting about having done two let alone one park run. You did good girl. Be proud

I am kind of proud I go alone and do this. Everyone seems to be a couple or groups or families.

I am about to go out and so W4R1 and I have done every run with my kids who are 9, 12 and 13 and they have found it so much easier than me! I am 51 but not overweight and have not found it excruciating (I think that might be about to change as this run has made me feel nervous in anticipation) but have still clearly found it harder work than my kids who have bounded and lolloped their way through so far!

I think you have done so well esp as there must be a temptation to rest on your laurels after graduation but you are clearly keeping going

Well done!

Thank you. Oh the kids make it look so easy as I am puffing and panting my way round :-D

What a great photo - you don't look a bit out of breath!

That seems a time to be proud of to me, and faster than 50 other runners! Well done

Pesky kids - tie their laces together!

Great picture and there is nothing wrong with that time at all! NEVER compare yourself to the young whippersnappers! They are depressingly fast - we probably would have been the same many years ago!!🙂

Everyone has already said what a great run and time you've had. I want to share my time in my 2nd Parkrun with you to show how well you've done. My time was 35:56. I hope to get my time closer to yours on my 3rd Parkrun. I'm planning my next Parkrun this coming Saturday. I will look out for your time on your 3rd Parkrun.

While parkrun is an opportunity to measure your progress, you have to face up to the fact that you will not get a PB every time........the longer you have been running the harder it is to get a PB......also, you will continue to be overtaken by kids for a very long time and there is little you can do to avoid that.

The C25k graduate feeling that you can conquer the world needs tempering with reality.........of course you can, but give it time.

Thanks everyone. I think I need to forget about this time thing and just enjoy my running for now. I might try another parkrun next week as the Belton one is very uneven ground - lots of uneven surface/rabbit holes. Might try Sherwood Pines or Rutland Water :-)

Well that is a fantastic time IMO and you don't even have a red face! Lovely picture. Forget the kids' times. They are young and if you had been their age when you started this, you would have been showing them a thing or two!

I did my third parkrun yesterday. Was coming up to the last bit and could see that I was going to get a good time. I had two young girls overtake me and then just in front of me one of them tripped over so I had to stop. She was fine. I then carried on only to be overtaken by her again coming up to the finish line. Unbelievable......😁😁

I did my 86th parkrun yesterday. I was very pleased with my time of 34.32. I have never felt humiliated only surprised and delighted (still !) with every one I complete.

sounds like a good time tome. The other week I got overtaken by a man pushing a double buggy with a 3rd child perched on to the step bit between them.
