New to C25K

Hi I'm new here, started the C25K and completed W1 and ready for W2 R1 tomorrow. Never been able to run without getting very out of breathe and getting a stitch. Hope that I can progress to run non stop.

Of course you can! 😊C25k programme will get you through it gradually over 9 weeks. Just take it slowly! ☺Enjoy yourself. It's FUN!

Hi there! I'm new, too. Working on week 2 this week. Everyone on here seems to be very nice and supportive. Everyone has told me to trust in the programme and that slow and steady wins the race. I'm trying hard not to do too much too soon, but I really want to stick with this, so I'm going to take their advice. Good luck, and I look forward to seeing your progress on here. 😊 xx

Well done. You are already on the way, you made that first and toughest step - you got off the couch and out of the door👏 Trust in the program and take it really slowly. This forum is a wonderful place for help and encouragement so drop in regularly, it will help you along the way. As misswobble says enjoy it - it really is fun 😀😀

Many of us started c25k having done absolutely no exercise for years. Personally, when I started, I didnt think it would be possible to really accomplish the programme. But it really, truly IS possible. You've already completed an entire week of runs and the programme will build you up gradually. It really is fun. Hard but fun, especially when you look back and see how far you've come! Look forward to cheering you on :)

Thanks for encouragement that it is possible to complete. I am very excited at the prospect and I really do want to do this for myself, it will be a great achievement, so must take one step at a time.

Excited at the thought of W2 R1 tomorrow, will keep in touch on forum as it seems a great place to gain encouragement and press on

It is definitely possible. I'm going to say one word and you've heard it lots. Slow down. Lol that was two words. Truthfully I've gone slow and never had a stitch yet.

In the same boat. Just completed W2 R1. One thing I will say is try not to get hung up on Laura's breathing advice. It almost broke me in the middle third of the runs. It might work for some but not for me. When I went back to breathing more naturally for me, I felt like I got back on track.

Good luck.

Welcome!! The C25k programme is simply amazing, following it will change your life and be one of the best decisions you'll ever make. Well done for getting that first run done!

Top advice is go slow! Slow down until you feel like you can't possibly slow down any more and then slow down again! Take extra rest days (always at least one rest day between runs) if you need to and if you don't manage all the running intervals then try that run again next time. Stretch, listen to Laura, GO SLOWLY, take your rest days and before you know it you'll be running for 30 minutes!

Yes, you will! All of us who can run for 30 minutes started exactly where you are now! If we can, you can!

This forum is full of incredible, inspirational people so do use it for advice, encouragement and to let us celebrate your successes with you. :)
