At age 67, I had the realisation that I was on the cusp of "losing it" - not that I had ever had much of "it" - but still, looking around me at my contemporaries, I could see that they had definitely "lost it" !!!
So- I asked myself - "what is it you want to do???" I thought - - "everybody should be able to walk 5 klms and be able to RUN 1 klm!!!!" I really knew that I could still walk 5k ( if I got my act into gear!) - but that running 1K was a definite pipe-dream which I could for now put onto the back burner until I could in fact easily walk 5k.
3 years and approx 2500 klms later - 2500 klms of running and run/walking - 2 half marathons , 3 x10K "races" and 66 parkruns - I have to say now that I can quite easily run 1klm :)))
Not sure where I go to from here!!!

Thank you for inspiring me Bazza! I will be attending my first park run on Saturday. I only hope I can achieve half of what you have done - fantastic work
You've nailed that 1km I'd say.😀. I've had a slight change of direction this year with my running and I keep trying out different things, this summer it's been more Stregnth and upper body work. The thing I've found out is I can go and do different things but the thing emotionally and physically holding it all together is my running. Running is now my core exercise some weeks I only run once, some four times but unless it's enforced rest I've always run weekly but I've done so many different things as well. So I would say the world is your oyster go and explore. Well done on your fantastic achievement so far.
Hats off to you Bazza. You've achieved so much and you're still going! I guess you could still keep doing what you've been doing. Here's to the next three years 🤗
