Just did W5R2 ....Took it slow and easy was able to do both 8 minutes run. Time and distance my usual. Recovered breath quickly. But but but....no runners high! To the contrary feeling extremely run down and achy! Run 1 was tough this week and run2 only marginally better....and I so look forward to my runs. Any ideas, advice?

No real ideas I'm afraid. Run down and aches sounds like you might be going down with something to me but I'm no expert. Why not take 2 days rest this time to give yourself more recovery time. Plenty of vitamin c and good healthy diet? Hope you get back into your stride soon.

Have been waking up achy and not quite up to it but by the the time evening comes along I'm raring to run ...so I have! Thank you for the sound advice... I'm eating well and popping my vitamins. As for rest days, I was thinking much the same.two maybe three before next run!

Important to listen to our bodies, I've heard people say you won't lose your fitness if you miss a few days.

If you wake up like it - could be your sleep. Pillows, heat, ....

I often experience restless sleep due to night sweats and that leaves me feeling like a damp squib in the morning 😬

I feel like I'm getting ok sleep quality but although I'm getting in 7-8 hours I feel like I need to catch up on some back log. That may be part of the problem.

Sometimes it just happens like that - we are worked up for a run and it just doesn't deliver for some unknown reason. Don't worry! You'll definitely have that feeling again at some point! It could be the next one... ;) So keep at it, you're doing great!

Thank you. Two maybe three rest days and I'll give run3 a shot.

A good couple of days before your next run sounds like a plan. Have you changed when or where you run? If you ran in the morning before, perhaps even though your heads raring to go, your body has other ideas? Are you subconsciously worrying about something totally unrelated perhaps? Sometimes I think there's no rhyme or reason, we just have a bad run (or two) ;) Have a good rest and have a great run 3 :)

Thank-you . My run is same place, sane time...just going to get an additional rest day in and see.

Don't worry, it will return. Week 5 seems massive but it is achievable because you have put in the work. Just plod on and wait for the fun to return!

Thank you I found run 2 and 3 quite scary in the description. Will take my rest days and plod on.

Any advice......yes......do W5R3!! That'll put the smile back on your face.

Miind you, if you are under the weather, do give yourself a break and have some extra rest.

Yes a bit under weather not actually ill. A few rest days will sort it out and I shall look forward to W5R3 on Friday , or maybe Saturday.

Sounds like you need an extra days rest. You'll be amazed how good you run if you take an extra day or two.

I posted about this yesterday in the 10K forum, no one seems to know what causes it. You have my sympathy, like you I felt achey and tired...I expected to come down with something the next day, but I seem to be fine. Have you been hungry? I've been starving all the time...Have a couple of days off, make sure you've eaten properly, don't push too hard on your next run. Let me know how you get on xx

That's exactly how I feel....like I'm coming down with something, but then I'm fine all day, raring to run by evening and then really tired after! I have been feeling more hungry and eating more as well...thank you, am taking at least two maybe three days off depend on the work schedule!

I think you may experience it when you complete the third run of this week!
