... Should have started by now, but annoyingly, I don't think my breakfast has settled yet. However running kit is out ready so I can get out the door in the next 15 minutes or so. Spurred on by the fact that I am due at the optician at 9.30am so need to get out, back, showered and out again in the next hour and a quarter! Steroid injection in elbow at lunchtime followed by 36 hour exercise ban, but if it works, it will be worth it!
Countdown to Week 2 Run 1 has commenced... - Couch to 5K
Countdown to Week 2 Run 1 has commenced...
Go get this run Nailectric ! You can SO do it. Will be thinking of you
Sounds like the running might carry on after the run with that schedule!
Well, I did the run, but then got a flat on the way home - serves me right for taking the car, but I was just trying to save time for a quick turnaround. White van parked badly on my road, and I had to slide by near the kerb. Must have clipped something sharp. Loud bang, got onto my drive and then saw it when I got out. Fantastic breakdown company and tyre people (the dancing ones!) had me back on the road in 2 hours, so though the optician's has had to be postponed till next week, I can still get my injection in an hour. Still really glad I ran, but next time I shall be walking to the gym!! Assuming I get the go ahead this afternoon to resume exercise after tomorrow, I will go again on Thursday before heading to parents for long weekend. I didn't find it too bad today. Onwards and upwards! Thanks, McFitty and Bettybelle for the encouragement.
What a drama! At least you got your run in - well done and fingers crossed you're all good to go again in a couple of days.
I am, yes, thank you! My arm was a bit sore for a couple of hours this afternoon, but the painkiller part of the injection seems to have kicked in now so it feels fine. Doc has said to take it easy today and tomorrow (boringly, this means I am sitting writing a handout for work!), and then I can run again on Thursday morning! Hooray! I explained I am doing C25K, and he thought that was great! He has actually said it is best if I only run for the next month and don't do any of my other usual stuff like Aqua or Pilates so I give the arm a proper rest and the steroid a chance to work, so I have absolutely no excuse not to do this thing!!!
Brilliant! Some health professionals react strangely to exercise so how brilliant your doc is supportive! Glad it feels good now, enjoy your run Thurs!
He was a doctor who specialises in physio, which probably helped! I told him (quite truthfully) that I thought given my age (52), it was a good idea to do the running as weight-bearing exercise.
I will definitely enjoy Thursday, thank you. I have a long train journey to follow it so it will be good to move for a little while first. Hope you have a great week too!
