I've just done week 8 day 1 in the great outdoors, I still only got to 2 miles, it seems it doesn't matter how long I run for I still only reach 2 miles. I did run a different route today so braved a few inclines, I hasten to call them hills πŸ˜‚ if we rename this programme I'm officially a graduate πŸ˜πŸ˜„πŸ†πŸ†

How far really doesn't matter. You'll graduate next week and you'll make that 5k in your own time. You're doing so well!

Well done you... I love 3 K.. it is a good distance :) I do them now for fun :)

30 minutes when you graduate, as our lovely Ullyrunner syas.. and the 5 K can follow...

I've just finished week 7 and realised the run part doesn't even get to 3k yet - will be happy if I can do 5k including warmup & cooldown πŸ˜€

More and more I just see '5K' as a target to keep me running AFTER I graduate :) I'm the kind of person who has to be able to see 'a point' in running and it has to be a big bloody obvious and objective one as my gremlins have a LOT of practice in helping me 'rationalise' my way out of succeeding at something.

'Getting Fit' 'Losing Weight' 'Being Happy' are a bit nebulous and 'hard to measure' - but '5k is 5k is 5k' no arguemnt there - and I can focus on that when my motivations to run start wandering around in my head like Hansel and Gretel in Mordor ;)

I prefer the idea of their gingerbread house. Am waiting to go out to dinner and starving πŸ˜‹

Counting down the minutes. Will definitely enjoy thank you πŸ˜€

Well of course (being pedantic) it should be called "Couch to 30 mins" cos as everyone says distance is irrelevant, it's continuous running time that really counts.

It is indeed the time that counts :) Funnily enough though - I think I would have been discouraged even more at the thought of 'time' versus 'distance'.

I had NO concept of what running 5k would be like - but I sure as hell knew what running for ANY length of 'time' felt like and thirty minutes would have been 'out of the question'.

However - running 'towards' 5K seemed something that was not an 'absolute' and I adopted the idea that 'Lets just see how far I will get if I am crazy enough to give this a go'

Well - Thank the Good Lord that I am crazy ;)
