My legs were feeling reasonable so I went out again this morning. The new shoes have definitely helped but the best bit of advice I took from everyone at the weekend was to take it easy. I slowed to the pace my muscles needed today - it did not make me breathe as hard so my lightbulb moment was the realisation that my muscles need to catch up with my cardio capability. You were all right - I overdid it last week. I would also recommend watching the Strideuk video on the nhs website if you are new to this. I found it really helpful. I really do need to learn to run not just how to achieve the distance!
I have stretched and breakfasted - just have to find the energy to take my dogs out now -sadly they are too old to join me on my journey to 5k 😔

I just wish I had taken this up years ago - I have 2 black labs and they would have adored coming with me. Jafa thinks runners are doing it for her benefit anyway! She would still keep up with me but for her sake I have to leave her at home as her back legs are going and she really struggles if she overdoes is but they are both doing well for 12 year old labs.
Must admit our little vintage touring caravan might be interesting with 3 labs - they are not the smallest dogs but I do love them. Could see me sleeping in the awning while they take over the beds!!
I don't have a dog of my own now so I borrowed a neighbour's to help me with weight loss and getting fit. He was so fit and strong that if I dawdled along after him he'd get fed up, so I started having to run to keep up with him. I started C25k to help me learn to run and it's been great. If he breaks into a run now while we're out on walks then I just run as well.
