I posted a while back that my husband and running partner had struggled in WK5R3 with shin pains. Turns out that he was also having chest pains and 'didn't want to worry me'. All credit to him, he took himself to the docs on Monday and they've diagnosed possible angina. He's having an ECG next Friday and has beta blockers, aspirin and a spray for any attacks in the mean time.
The doc has said he can still run, as long as he doesn't push himself too hard. We're going to stick at WK5R1 which we found quite comfortable, until he has a diagnosis. On the positive side:
1. Without running he wouldn't have identified a possible issue
2. The NHS is fab and we're confident that he'll get excellent care
3. I'm still going to Parkruns with my super speedy daughter and plodding around.
4. I completed WK5R3 so can run for a whole 20 minutes (still get a buzz saying that!)

Great that you have completed the 20 min run. 😊 Health must come first though and the longer runs will wait til you are able to carry on. Good luck to you both.x
Whoop whoop w5r3, I'm sooo pleased for you, well done.... 😀 And doing park runs too, that's really brave!! Fingers crossed that you get test results quickly for hubby.
Thank goodness you stopped and didn't push yourself on the previous run, but like you say if you hadn't run in the first place he would never know. Hope he feels better soon. Well done for w5r3 it's tough and you did it. Best of luck with your running too.
That's a relief about your husband and such great news that he can still run! Well done to you for ticking off the biggie. It's a great achievement and you should buzz for quite a long time 🐝
Gosh. I hope he is soon on the mend. I know that the cardiac rehab classes in our area are all about diet and exercise ( with a doctors advice). I agree our NHS is excellent , we are defiantly very lucky to have it
