You know you're addicted to running when...

...your boss asks you how you'd feel about changing your day off and the first thing you think about is how this might affect your running schedule!!๐Ÿ˜ฎ Happened to me this week, I'm afraid! The good news is that it will actually give me more flexibility to fit in longer runs! ๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿป. Anyone else got any examples of running's great importance in their life?

..... you postpone an operation because you're training for a race. Yes. I've. Done. That.

Omg! So true Oldfloss! Everywhere I go I am thinking of running possibilities!!

Yes, I've done that! And, even worse, hubby booked a surprise city break for us and the first thing that came into my head was but the hotel doesn't have a gym and I won't be able to run outside :O

Noooo... and then you feel horrid, 'cos that was the first thought...eeek!

When my husband suggested our favourite, tin tent stop in Le Bugue this year.. I leapt at it, with indecent haste...... flat roads, running early morning, out of the site, along by the Vezere river... a slow stop on the way back for coffee overlooking the bridge... oh yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Are you still running in these yatesco ? If so, how are you finding them?

yatesco profile image

Very _very_ smelly, which seems to be common. I find them fine to run in, and I haven't had any of the problems with my knees, lower back or leg muscles that I had when I ran in my ยฃ100+ 'proper' running shoes.

They do take a while to get used to if you are used to running in other shoes, and I do run primarily on grass. I did about a mile and a 30 metre full out sprint in them the other day on concrete and no problems at all. Were I doing constant road running maybe I would have more issues with them - don't know.

But yeah, I love them :-).

I had to read your reply twice because I thought you'd run for 30 miles! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

That sounds great about the shoes. I hope you stay injury free!

Not just running, my whole gym-going schedule has to be considered before I commit to anything - who have I become??

I only get my work schedule a couple of weeks in advance and since I started this running lark the first thing I look for is if it will disrupt my running schedule. I even volunteered to be the Designated Driver one evening so I would be able to run the next day. I have NEVER volunteered before, my husband is wondering what has happened to his wine loving wife ๐Ÿท

Steady on! Would you believe I no longer drink! ( I too used to love my wine). This is what running has done to me๐Ÿ˜ฎ!

Not quite on the level of postponing an operation but we had some friends from Singapore come to visit last summer. I asked them to delay their arrival at our house until the Saturday morning because I was scheduled to do an "8K Fast" as part of my HM training and the weather forecast was 6 degrees cooler on Friday evening.

Even Mrs. Dunder was advised that "work schedule" was the reason.

... when you cannot find space in your luggage for your underwear because it has been taken by your running kit (and you end-up buying new underwear at destination).

Blocking out your diary at work with an important private appointment so you can go for a run.

Or similar to the holiday ones. Picking your hotel on a business trip based on good running options & then having to pack a bigger suitcase to fit your running kit in..........

Ps I'm meeting my sister for lunch tomorrow which is normally a boozy affair........ I'm driving through choice so I can run on Sunday (if the podiatrist agrees!) ๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿ˜†

I did that recently on a motorway when I saw "6miles"! I was dead impressed by how far it felt in a straight line! Don't think the M4 will ever be my preferred place to run however โ˜บ
