I did my first post-grad run yesterday - went a different route, through the middle of our town where there is a small side-stream of the river Test running close to the Abbey.
There were two men in waders standing in it - maybe 18 inches deep, they were hand dredging the middle of the stream - and all around their boots were the cutest tiny ducklings - just little balls of fluff with their mums nearby, picking up tasty things coming from the bed of the stream. And a number of over-excited toddlers trying to reach in and touch them. The ducklings were so bold and cheeky especially as they didn't look much bigger than eggs.
