First post-grad outing - short and sweet

Having graduated on Monday, I did some running maths - going away next Monday, so if I run every other day that's three more runs before nearly a week's break (running during conference unlikely...but we'll see). More maths as I realised how late I'd got up and decided 15 min would have to do! Got yoga later so probably the right decision anyway, I'd like to be able to walk by the end of the day.

Was going to run "naked" but due to some terrible life choices I had "Bilbo Baggins" by Leonard Nimoy in my head, and though I am hobbit sized I have no intention of making that my theme song. So on went the radio, and I remembered that Monday's run had started aptly with a song with lyrics mentioning laces tied up wrong (Procol Harum?). No such lyrical bad omens this time as I started my warm up walk to the glorious “Young Hearts Run Free" - disco running ahoy.

Got out into the park and had a perfectly enjoyable short run, timed with my watch and finishing with "Wake Up Boo" (Boo Radleys). Well, I'm awake now. I even jogged up the little footpaths into the shrubs at the end of the park - they are highly undulating with steps so I had abandoned them early on when I couldn't fit them with the walking breaks. Can't say they were easy but they were satisfying.

I genuinely can't believe the transformation. I am now someone who exercises regularly. I ran before work. It's always going to be a work in progress, but what good progress, if I do say so myself.

Yes! That's what I am after, some control over my daily plan and actions. I have long been very bad at planning and implementing, and I'm slowly changing. You can't control everything around you but if you can set your mind to something, and then do it, it's great.

Nicely done and you are certainly not resting on your graduation laurels up and out there soon after....

It seems that post graduation running has become a habit and it is this that will keep you going. Well done!

Hah, it's been one post-grad run so far but on top of about 13 weeks doing the c25K, I might just be on my way to a habit, thank you!
