From the start of week 7, I've been logging my actual running on Map My Run, just for curiosity sake. I hit start when Laura tells me to start running and then leave it on until I get home (it's a 6.5km route). I like to have a look at the split time for the first 3k as I know I will have jogged all of this.
I've just got back from week 8 run 1 and the first km was 5.30 minutes!!! This is a whole 3 minutes faster than my usual pace and I had no idea I was going that fast (although I didn't have to stop to cross any roads this time). The other two were much slower but meant that my average pace across all 3 km's was 7 minutes - which is 1.30 minutes better than any previous run AND I ran for an extra 3 minutes today).
I actually felt like I was picking my legs up a bit better today and when Laura said stop, I actually had a little blub!! Thankfully, there was nobody around to see my having a minor meltdown.
This running lark is really crazy. Oh! In other news, my Macmillan T-Shirt arrived yesterday which I plan to wear whenever I'm on an OutRun May jog

It was bloody freezing - had to put my little wooly hat back on! Although I was so sweaty at the end - it was lovely taking it off and letting the chill breeze at my wet hair. I must've looked like a scarecrow - but I stopped caring about such things at the start of week 3
Well done! If you can control your speed during the first kilometre, I'm sure you can further improve your average pace, as you'll better distribute your energy across the entire run. 😉
Soon you'll be a blurred spot of colours, flying along the street!
I genuinely didn't realise (although this first KM has the longest downhill stretch). I also "celebrated" by eating a bar of coconut ice. I've just plugged that into my WW app and that's two days worth of running - so won't be wasting my points like that again!
Oh well done! I'm gradually shaving off time as well but I think my addiction to statistics is getting s bit much! I spend ages looking at splits and comparing speeds and pace on different runs! All feeds my vanity as I've been recording on run keeper for nearly two whole months now! I've missed the last two runs as I have a vile fluey cold which has made me ache in every joint. Better now so might go out this evening. Ought to really, I haven't worn my funky new Aldi capris yet!
