Well who'd have thought when I started this programme back in deepest, darkest February taking baby steps out on a cold, snowy Friday afternoon, that 3 months later I'd be running non-stop for 30 minutes! But I have done exactly that (and a bit more) for the last three runs.
I thought I'd try Zombies, Run! today to make a change. It didn't get off to a good start when I heard the first instruction to run at about 3 minutes into my warm up walk. So I start off at my usual jogging pace. Then I hear "Warning, Zombies 15 metres... warning, Zombies 20 metres" so I up the pace and get stitch. I've been lucky and have managed to avoid stitch in my run up til now although I've had a few minor ones in my warm down walks. I concentrate on my breathing and tips Laura gave us back in, was it Week 4? I'm starting to worry that this was a bad decision and that I'd fail my graduation run. Maybe this Zombies Run thing is a bit too advanced for me at this stage.
But then I hear a voice saying "such and such item collected" - couldn't make out exactly what it said but thought, well I can't be dead then if I'm still playing the game. So I carry on being chased by zombies and trying to up the pace a little when I hear them close in. Wasn't really sure I knew what I was doing and when I looked at the results later, I obviously didn't because the Zombies caught me at least 1/6 dozen times. I've asked hubby to use his internet skills to see if he can find some useful playing tips. Like perhaps I shouldn't start running faster until I hear the zombie locator pips getting really close in so I don't tire myself out.
Anyway, I got round and must have been running for longer than 30 minutes in total as I started early and decided to carry on until MMP told me I'd been running for 3 miles.
I don't think it's actually sunk in yet that I've completed the programme. Can I now call myself a C25K graduate? If so, where's that link for the t-shirt?
