Got myself all prepared on Friday to start my C25K today. Printed off my 12-week fitness plan and downloaded week 1 C25K, week 1 strength and flex and and week 1 of the weight loss guide. Other half then decided to share his cold with me so now feeling really rough and disapponted as i had mentally prepared myself. Still going to stick to weight loss guide but really don't think i'll be able to do run 1 with how i'm feeling really and dont want to try and then feel really annoyed that i can't do it. i'll see how i feel after work and maybe do the strength and flex instead so at least i feel that i've made a start. Grrrrrr
Ready to start and then.....: Got myself all... - Couch to 5K
Ready to start and then.....
Don't worry you will soon be ready to to start and as you say better to get rid of the cold first. You could always go for s walk instead later today ?
Very annoying when you've geared yourself up but definitely think you've made the right choice to delay the c25k.
Like HilaryC has suggested, if you're feeling up for it I would try a good-paced walk. In fact maybe try 2-3 before you start, that way you can gauge if you are indeed over the cold and it will give you the best chance of an uninterrupted plan.
Good luck
Poor you, hope you feel better soon. It is better to delay C25K until you are fit again.
Good luck with the running and the weight loss plan.
I feel your pain - I was due to start week 7 a week and a bit ago and I still have a cold. I don't think I could walk far, let alone run yet. As the others have said, wait until you are better before you try to run but if you can manage any other exercise, then go for it. Very best of luck - the programme is fab.
How frustrating but you don't want to make it too hard on yourself. W1r1 can be harder than you'd think! Rest and come back fighting fit. I think you'll love the running once you start seeing some progress, which happens very quickly. I think the c25k programme is great. It has made runners out of so many of us coming from all sorts of age, weight and health backgrounds. No reason why you shouldn't be a runner too. Will be looking out for your first running post.
frustrating, however don't let the negative feelings get you down and take away the impetus to get fit, listening to the negative voices ( Gremlins) is what keeps us stuck firmly to the sofa.
my personal experience starting this was that I had a heavy bout of sinusitis which made me feel like rubbish. I started all the same and felt better for it.
of course I am no doctor so I am not offering this as sound advice, just my experience.
If you feel well enough to go out and walk you could check out some possible routes for your runs later in the programme.
aww, thanks everyone, your comments have made me feel so much better about feeling poorly I have a dog so unfortunatley no matter how crap I or the weather is she still needs a walk so i still went out out for a half hour stroll. It was obvioulsy a lot slower than i planned but 'insert quote from well know supermarket here' your support is really appreciated. Have still started the weight loss programem though, no point in putting everything on hold. Cheers x
