.... when the instructions say (first week) for a total of 20 minutes, does that include the 5 minute brisk walk?

No, there are 8 runs.  I didn't realise this and included the 5 min walk in a total of 20mins, so did 6 runs.

I don't have a way of listening to the podcasts when I'm running, so got it wrong.

...and I didn't know I got it wrong until I saw someone comment on here saying that it goes from 8 to 6 runs for week two - oops!

You are allowed to say 'gulp' when you look ahead to subsequent weeks, but the C25K plan prepares you for each week and you'll be just fine. I promise.
