Enjoy those lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer

Sometimes it's best to forget speed or pace when running and go off road and simply enjoy the feeling of running for running's sake. Even better if you can do this in beautiful surroundings and in warm sunshine. And what could be better than dappled sunlight coming through the pine trees, running on a sandy path in a forest beside the sea?

(With apologies to Nat King Cole and the songwriters for amending the above song)

That looks like a great place to go running. I'm also looking forward to 'enjoyment runs' as I like to call me, and do exactly as you have.

Singing alonga Nat! I was running gently this morning, testing out my aged limbs after a four day enforced rest. Out on the trail where I spied a huge, gert snake last week. Damp, overcast but humid on my trail this morning. The wildflower meadow, which last time I ran, wasn't there, had sprung up in all the rain and was looking glorious. Wild, fragrant roses filled the air with their heady scent and made me glad to be out. Some nice peeps about with cheery "hello's" and fussy dogs made it a pleasure

I had no music, just the sound of the birds to accompany me, and no plan. I really enjoyed it

That's when I like to run naked too misswobble (naked being without music) the birds singing and the soft breeze whispering through the trees, nothing better. :)

Think you must be doing wonders for tourism in the highlands Sheila! Lovely pictures and like the sentiment too.

Those pine trees in Culbin Forest are incredible, sadly a bit too far to drive for a short run. May stop off when I'm next returning from the top end though. What a lovely way to break my journey. Hhhmmmm :)
