Hi everyone,
I posted on here a couple of weeks ago after my very first run about my legs being in agony for days afterwards, I felt really deflated and wasn't sure if I would be able, or even want to carry on. I got some great advice and support on here and thought I'd post an update.
I bought some bath salts and after my second run I did some proper stretching as advised and the difference is amazing. Whilst my joints still hurt a little bit, it was the sort of pain that you know is from a good workout and not from doing anything wrong. I'm now about to complete week 2 and can't wait to get back out there on Tuesday to finish it. I was out this morning and all day I've been amazed at how my legs are giving me no trouble at all. A mixture of the stretching, the bath salts and my body adapting to the new demands I'm putting on it. I now know I can do this.
So if you're just starting out and the first run was a killer, and you're worried that you won't be able to carry one I promise it does get easier, and it gets easier a lot quicker than you might think.
Don't overexert yourself in the beginning, stretch properly after each run and soak in a hot bath with some salts. Amazing what a difference these little things make.
