I'm back! (chorus of, "Who the hell...?")

I've just been reviewing my old posts, and I'm appalled my last attempt at this was getting on for 3 years ago. I've lost four stone* since then with the help of Slimming World, and although I still have a couple to go, I thought I'd give C25K another go.

What a difference!! I did W2R1 this morning, which is further than I got last time (I know, I know...), and I managed it without feeling I was about to expire any second! In fact, when I was doing the last run, I think because I knew I wasn't worrying about holding anything in reserve, I was going a wee bit faster with my head up and a big silly grin on my face! I probably looked slightly deranged, to be honest, but I felt fantastic.

I hope I can complete the program this time. it's good to be back.

*Which meant I was running carrying the equivalent of 28 bags of sugar last time - no wonder my knee gave up! I have boundless respect for those of you who are doing this in part to help with weight loss. Keep at it - it's helping you reach your goal, and running when you get there is going to be fantastic!

Well done Niggit- both on the weight loss (four stone!!!??!) and on restarting C25K. I'm sure you can do it! It will help you toning your body and getting fitter and when (WHEN!) you start to do longer runs it can also help with weight loss. Go you!

Aww, thankyou so much! (I love your name, btw) Yes, the weight kept creeping on and making me miserable so I'd go and have some chocolate which meant the weight etc etc and so it went.  The straw that broke the camel's back was a holiday in our little camper van on Mull when I found myself choosing easy walks "because of my bad knee", getting bad backache on uphill stretches, and finding moving around inside the van a problem...I just wish I'd done something about it years ago, but that's impossible, so I'm trying to make the most of things now. I feel so much better!!

Hi,well done and welcome back, 4 stone WOW that is just awesome :)

I'm sure that a person who can lose 4 st can complete this program :)

Follow the program, believe in yourself and take it slow and steady , you will do just fine, good luck and keep posting :)

Good luck. If you can put your mind to losing all that weight, you can do anything. 😀

Thankyou! I hadn't thought of it like that! I must admit I am quite proud of myself :)

4 stone is a fantastic weight loss and you're right : carrying the equivalent of 28 bags of sugar around with you as you ran would have been so much harder on your joints. Maybe consider doing some quad strengthening exercises such as squats this time round to prevent knee trouble. I am sure you'll get through to the end this time round. Keep posting!

Thankyou very much! Good advice. I am actually going to a gym on my non-running days and doing exactly the kind of exercises you recommend; I have had a bit of knee discomfort, but it seems to be more in the surrounding muscles and not inside the joint itself, so hopefully it's doing the trick!
