I've found the only real way to even accurately track calories burnt is to track Heart Rate as well via a heart rate monitor, that way my workouts are remarkably stable.
How far did you run? 1400 calories would be approx 17-18km on a flattish surface for me.

Oooh, that amount of calories would be awesome! Sadly, I think this is a glitch if you're close to running 5k's... It obviously depends on age, metabolism and speed etc. etc., but I think the typical calorie burn for a 5k is around 320 calories for a woman. Don't quote me as of course I'm not a scientist! But yeah, this sounds like a glitch ^^;

Rough guide (I believe) is all dependant on body etc but about 100 calories per mile.

I recently took part in some medical research which involved them calculating my resting metabolic rate from the amount of oxygen I used while lying still in a sort of hood. Then I wore a movement and heart rate tracked for a week. From the result graphs I received I can see that Garmin is underestimating quite drastically, and I think RK was even worse when I used it. They are just a guide, based on average people...you're not average you are a C25K-er!
Think it is more a guide or an indicator rather than accurate ...
