Ok so I have managed to do second run at the gym this morning. Really didn't want to go. Forced myself out. Tbh once I've got the gear on its not so bad. Had it firmly fixed in my mind what I was doing concentrating on 30 mins rather than 5k. So I did 5 minute walk then the alternate 60 and 90 runs and walks. Got mixed up at 20 mins and thought I only need to do 5 mins of walking?!? Then realised my mistake so did two more separate minutes of running. Finished at 30mins and had covered 3k. I'm pleased with this and actually feel more motivated now for Friday's run. The only problem is I'm doing coffee in the morning so it will have to be an afternoon run. I do feel more motivated now. I set a goal on map my run of 3x a week and have received well done notifications from them. It all helps πππ
W1R2: Ok so I have managed to do second run at... - Couch to 5K
W1R2
Well done it is good to get into routine , I still run the same days from doing c25k .
Do you not use the podcasts ?
Well done. I've did W1R2 yesterday but I have to use the pod cast to keep to time. I must admit that this time when Laura said I'd finished the run bit I was actually surprised each time (came round quick). Was still knackered at the end (and had to walk an extra 8 minutes to get home)!
It sounds like you're doing it without listening to the podcast on your route - if so, how are you working out the timings?
Why not give the podcast a try. Laura will talk you through each session and tell you when you should walk or run as well as giving you helpful running tips and motivation. Laura has helped most of us to succeed with c25k.
Hi thanks for all your replies. I'm doing it on the treadmill. Such a wimp about the cold! I did start the programme last year running outside but was so miserable with the cold and wind so I decided to do the programme in the gym. The 9 weeks should take me up to the middle of April. I am hoping that I will be able to run for 30 mins continuously by then and would like to do the park runs. I hope I get there!
Regarding our friend Laura, I couldn't run with headphones in last year because they kept falling out. How do they stay in while you're running??? So I had the sound on full on my phone to hear her but with the noise of the traffic couldn't always hear her.
Thanks for all the encouragement πππ
Mine stay in no problem but I am also wearing a hat being outddors in the cold. You can also get headphones that sit across the top of your head and come down to your ears. See a lot of runners out with those. I have some but haven't tried them because of the hat.
