What a great day. It was so nice to meet everyone who was there and sorry we missed a few of you but it was mega manic. I find it amazing how they organise 15,000 people into running together.
I met loads of people from c25k before the race and it was great to see some familiar faces from last year and say hi to some new faces . Just like the forum it was relaxed and supportive, all of us getting ready to go and do our own thing.
I started off today thinking I'm not going for any pb's today as I felt a bit chesty and didn't think I had much back up to push myself. Somehow I managed to get into the wrong wave and by the time I realised there was no way to turn back round and had to set off with a really fast runners. I got myself to the side of the road as soon as I could and tried to tuck myself in but I got this feeling if I tried to slow down I might get in trouble so I ran as fast as my little legs could go.
As soon as I hit the 1km mark things were calming down and all the speedy runners had passed me by so I managed to get myself into my own pace which was better.
It was a bit cold and wet but even so it was a nice run. I was pacing myself well by about 7km and looked at my gamin and realised if I carried on I could be On Track for a PB so I got myself ready and as I hit the 9km mark I changed my pace up and went for it.
I ended up with a PB of 1:18.11 on my Garmin but my text from the winter run was 1:21:44. I think I'm going to take my Garmin pb.
I Went to meet everyone for a drink but unfortunately had to leave early but it was so good to meet everyone and all in all a fantastic day.

Yes, def take the Garmin PB. My Garmin measured the course at 9.9k so I had to do a cheeky little ajustment to make it a 10k PB. 56:24 - VERY happy with that!
Thank you, you too. I had heard that some of the courses were a little short so I started it before I went under the start banner. Well done on your pb. My muscles are tightening already, should be fun tomorrow. 😃.
Definitely take the Garmin time. Like you I tried to keep well over to let quicker runners pass more easily. Consequently my chip time is for 10.4k. My TomTom has me at 10k two and a half minutes quicker
Great to meet you today, and wasn't it a fun event? The thing with the Garmins is that they do tend to undermeasure distance, particularly if the course has a lot of bends (it cuts corners) - and also in places like the city, with lots of buildings, the GPS signal may not be the best. I think you should assume that the official course has been properly measured - you ran 10K today!
Well done on your PB, and hope to see you at another race before too long!
Lovely to meet up. We did a city building walk once and the GPs went silly. But your right I did 10km. Sport relief is my next one at the Olympic park.
Great post RFC glad you all managed to meet up! Well done on your time,I did think of you all this morning, that last yr has flown by! Glad you enjoyed yourselves, and enjoy your pretty medal 😊x
Well done! I was in the last wave which suited me just fine. I was ready to go at about 10am and it was announced you could go as soon as you we ready regardless of the time you had allocated so I just joined the queue. It was a bit crowded at the start but as you say once it got to 1km it was OK. I had a few thoughts of 'What the hell am I doing?' at about 3km but by the half way point I was doing fine. I even managed a bit of a sprint at the end. My garmin gave me a time of 1:21:13 for 10.13km but the text I got gave me 1:19 - I'm happy with either to be honest. It was a great day and I never thought running in the wet and cold could be so much fun! I'm fully intending to do it next year
I should of waited but I thought I was walking to the pens and before I knew it we were setting off. Well done on your time, I know it's amazing how much weather you put up for a good run.
Yes, was good to meet up. Enjoyed the route but the waiting around was a bit cold and wet. Set off a bit fast, surrounded by speedy people and by the end was going very slow. They told me 1hr 6 mins which was faster than I felt I'd been so will see if it gets revised. Glad you enjoyed it.
It was great to meet up. Your right It was a bit wet, you can't of being going that slow if you got 1:06, well done. I think if there is a revision it will just be a min or so so it will still make a good time. Take care RFCx.
Well done on your PB! 😊So sorry I missed you this year. I couldn't get to the pre race meet up and was late to the Sakisbury.! Hopefully see you at the next one if not before X 😊
