First parkrun

Having completed Couch to 5K at the beginning of November, I have carried on running although because of the weather and various other factors have only managed to get out once or twice a week since. At the start of the year I decided I would try to do a parkrun at least once a month, so with January running out, this morning I did my first parkrun. The worst part is getting up so early on a Saturday morning and I can't say I enjoyed it particularly, but I finished in in a time of 42.51 minutes and more importantly I didn't come last!! That's a whole 7 minutes faster than when I did the Race for Life in July so hopefully my running speed is progressing. As an added bonus on the walk home my fitbit buzzed to let me know I'd already done 10,000 steps for the day and it was only just gone 10am. After all that I will be spending the rest of the weekend comatose on the sofa.

Well done ☺ What fantastic progress. I think targeting one Parkrun a month is a really good motivation.

Since we've started park running our weekends are so different. It is now totally normal to get back, shower, pj's on and DVDs, books and chat for the rest of the day. So much more quality time than shopping!
