Hardest one yet...

So..... there was me thinking I was clever after 4 weeks off and picking up where I left off at week 5 without any real problem.

Ha!! Just been out to do W6 R1 and it was awful.

It was freezing cold, we had to take a different route to avoid the icy pavements which hadn't thawed out yet from Thursdays snow so my timings were out of sync and I had a headache from last nights Prossecco (I ditched 'dry January' last weekend and switched instead to 'DAMP' January so I could at least have a drink on a Friday night after work!!)

So when Laura told me I still had 4 minutes to go during the 8 minute stretch I could have cried!! I was travelling at snails pace and it wasn't helped by the route we were forced to take having an incline. At 60 seconds to go I was counting seconds in my head willing it to be over!!!

I kept on for the final 5 minutes run but I'm sure I'd be breaking trade descriptions law if i tried to call it running.

It was by far the hardest most tiring run yet and a bit of a rude awakening if I'm honest.

Cant say I'm looking forward to W6R2

Some days are harder than others but Laura says it more important that you stick with it rather than how fast you go, so good job for not stopping :)

Make sure you fuel up and are warm enough for your next run and you should be fine. Good luck :)

I can recall cussing and swearing at Laura and accusing her of being a liar, when I thought my run was nearly at an end and she gaily told me I was "half way through" I can remember thinking I'd die. Well I didn't

You'll be fine Debs. You really will. Slow is absolutely perfect. You'll see that before long. Icy weather is not ideal I grant you. I try to think of what's waiting for me post run. A hot coffee and a home-baked cake etc, bowl of hot chilli etc. Just to help me focus on something other than my aching legs

Good luck. Hang in there!

W6R1 is difficult for a lot of people, even without icy conditions! If you were to repeat it, though, you'd find it easier. W6R2 is not nearly as bad, which sounds crazy, but you just have to trust the programme. Somehow, the order of the runs and the combination of duration of runs and walk breaks or just longer runs really does work and will get you to 30 mins of running. Well done for getting through W6R1!

When for some reason I don't run for a while, I just go back to previous weeks until I am confident.

Oh dear... don't be too hard on yourself, good for you for getting outside in the cold. Much respect I wouldn't fancy it.

Obviously keep going if you can but running will still be there and so much easier in a few weeks time. Then you will be smashing it and enjoying it too. Promise. :)
