At long last had MRI Scan on my shoulder last week, went to consultant this morning and hooray having a new shoulder on 23 February . Only been suffering for the last ten years . Still out walking and keeping myself as fit as possible for an oldie

The op is a reverse shoulder replacement. It is similar to a hip replacement where he puts in a new metal and plastic ball and socket. It is called a reverse replacement because normally the ball would be attached to the arm and the socket is attached to the shoulder blade but as there is no rotator cuff tendon the ball is attached to the shoulder blade and the socket to the arm, it is more stable that way.
It should help your running, not to mention everything else you have to use your shoulder for, which is virtually everything! ☺
