As a 55 year old man who hadn't done any running of note since leaving school, I was somewhat apprehensive about embarking on the program. However 10 weeks later, after a couple of hiccups on week 8, I finally completed week 9 with my first Parkrun. Much to my surprise I achieved a respectable time of 30:23.
I decided to run once during the week to keep fit & become a regular Parkrunner on Saturdays. I was astonished to get a time of 29:16 for my second Parkrun, a week after the first & am now really looking forward to the next run.
I know it's a cliché, but if I can do it, I know you can too.
Happy running.

PS and if you have not read it " Eat and Run " by Scott Jurek - maybe as a graduation present! (I'm presuming you are vegan) ... and when people will hear you run, then they'll start convincing you that you cannot be eating like that, that only animal protein can give you the nutrients you need ... I am sure you know the story - you can lend it to them
