I graduated yesterday at my local parkrun. Following the app has been amazing, even though I knew I hadn't reached 5k in 30 mins, I wanted my graduation run to be 5k no matter what the time! It was such an amazing experience (to run with others for a start) and am totally addicted. Now to maintain the running and work on pace a bit more. The problem I have is that I can only run before work during the week and the dark mornings are putting me off. Does anyone here use a treadmill/have any advice about them? This way I can keep up my running during the week and finish with a parkrun at the weekend.

Keep running, keep smiling.
CONGRATULATIONS! You did it. Well done you! I love your tshirt too 😍 Your post reminds me of myself when I graduated, it’s different running with others isn’t it and you are right not to focus on 5K in 30 mins. Let that thought go. The programme actually just gets you to 5K as you know and take it from somebody who graduated and ran 5K for a while afterwards but had to let it go (me!) my focus now is to be able to run 5K again, like you! I used to worry about timings and darkness too, didn’t ever get a treadmill as the thought of it bored me. I like to be able to take in the sights when running, it’s my thinking time. We are all different I do wonder if a treadmill would have helped. Well done!
Thank you so much. I'm looking into local running clubs too as I wouldn't mind running evenings with a group. (For some reason I'm fine running early mornings alone but not later evenings?) Having not been a runner during winter months I don't want to have any excuses to not run and figured a treadmill might help with that. It's all a learning curve!
For that reason I would think it could be a good idea. I graduated last November but unfort let it go during the winter months due to asthma playing up in the cold and darker evenings on your own I understand! I’ll be interested to see what you come up with. Where did you get your tshirt from? 😉
Love the t-shirt. Congratulations on your graduation and your first parkrun aquastar.
I ran on the treadmill during the snow and ice when I was on c25k and I quite enjoyed it. It's a bit easier on the knees and you can control your speed. If it's a choice of treadmill or not running, definitely go for the treadmill. I love being in the open air on a nice day though 🌞
