Week 4 run 1 Knee a bit sore
Hi Cath. Well done on getting to week 4.
I have achey knees sometimes, in fact running gave me lots of aches and pains at times during this programme.
I try to listen to my body and as long as my knees aren't excessively sore and the pain eases when running, I've carried on. Don't be afraid to take extra rest days, if you need longer to recover and make sure you stretch well after each run. There are some knee strengthening exercises on the site aswell, you may want to look into at some point, which may help.
Good luck and happy running!
We all get 'new runner' aches and pains but, personally, I don't like the idea of ignoring knee pain. I had knee pain when I first started the programme and ended up needing physio and being in the injury couch for two months. According to my wonderful physio, all runners need to do quad strengthening exercises to protect their knees. There are some in the pinned posts or you could try these that I was given -they really do work!

I actually have some residual knee pain from swimming which has lessened since I started running . I will look up the knee exercises. I expect my muscles aren't doing their job yet. I'm loving the running.
