Well, I will confess I am a bit nervous now. Spartan Beast tomorrow, and in the last week they have upped the game rather. What was a 20k race is now a 30k and they have added 4 lake swims and all manner of new brutal challenges, to counter charges that other events have out-brutalled them this year.

estimated time to complete is now 6-8 hrs, which is about twice the time I have ever been out on an event before.

To add to my woes, the race belt I ordered from Wiggle on wednesday with 24 hr express delivery to hold gels etc, has not turned up. That and the 600 mile round trip.

gaaah!

You eat beasts for breakfast Rig. You'll be great. Run, climb, swim hard.

Just checked out their site, that looks incredible! Very envious and impressed by you sporty types. Looking forward to reading your race report and good luck.

Just remember - it's the missing piece!!! Think how you are going to feel when you put them all together. The journey will ssssoooo we worth it.

Keep calm and focused. You can do it.

It's not nerves. .. its adrenaline priming your body to perform ☺

update: Wiggle have assured me I will have my belt by next Wednesday and I misconstrued the '24 hrs delivery' option to mean delivery within 24 hrs.

We'll all be there cheering you through Rignold. I probably shouldn't say "enjoy" but good luck and come back triumphant with your spoils.

30 km you might systematically build up to, and call a three quarter marathon. I think it's getting out of the realm of the universally accessibles, but it's not crazy, just a lot of work, and probably some special talent for that kind of thing is required.

30 km with "25+" obstacles, though ... Ouch! - especially if those obstacles are swims of some distance. That adds a lot of equivalent kms.

Well done to you for developing your fitness levels to the point where you can take on challenges like this. I hope it's a good event for you on the day, and that the glitches sort themselves out.
