10k, I did it!

Ah, I feel amazing right now! Managed to extend the 5 mile run to cover 10k for the first time since I was about 12 years old. In fact, that's definitely the furthest I have ever run in one go. Bit of a headf**k if I am honest! 70 mins 21 seconds!

If anyone is wavering about doing this programme, following the podcasts / app or worried about how much effort it is - really, just get out there and do it! I could barely run 1 minute intervals at the end of January, and now I am running for 70 minutes non-stop. I am well and truly hooked on running.

Oh, and the added benefits of losing a bit of weight and gaining some muscle can't be overlooked either ;)

Doing my first 10k race 6 weeks tomorrow. I said at the time that I'd do it in around 70 minutes - confident I can get that down to 65 or so by the time I get to the start line now. The myasics plan has been really helpful in getting me to slow down and think more of the pacing.

Certainly helped that its a lovely day out there :)

Next couple of weeks training is intervals and faster, shorter runs - time to get that 5k time down to around 30 minutes!

Now.... where is Ju's race report already? I can't wait to hear how she's done!

Nice looking run there. You'll be in a great position for that 10k.

That's a great run, Nick. I'm going for an easy paced long run tomorrow - that gave me 10k (six minutes slower than you) last Monday, and I'll see what happens tomorrow. I've got ten weeks today until my 10k race. You must be so much more confident after today.

Good for you.

As I was easing myself out of bed this morning, I had a good look at my legs. They've changed - leaner and more defined. This really does change you, doesn't it?

oh yes. I've dropped two waist sizes and my old work shirts now look like bin bags!

Wow, haven't you done well! In such a short time scale too - very impressive, you are right to be so chuffed.

Good luck with your challenges - you'll smash em!

A fantastic achievement and the way your km split times get faster as you go along shouldn't be overlooked. A sign of increasing confidence.... And that's what it's all about.
