First "Real" Race.... and a new PB!

Apart from a couple of fun/charity runs I have never taken part in a "proper" race... until this morning.

Pleased to say that I completed the Langport 10k (my local town) and also got a 10k PB. As the last person crossed the line the clock said 1:20... but hey... I haven't run a 10k in that time before and although I was definitely towards the back I was very pleased with my 1:15 time. :-) Looking at my stats later I also noticed that I was only 20secs away from a 5k PB as well... only goes to show the difference a race event makes to my normal solo running.

The event was very well organised and the support from the Marshalls and other runners was great... Crossing the line was bordering "emotional" with loads of cheers and support. It was a bit ironic that my race number was the age that I started running last year...

Happy running folks :-)

Well done Andy! Love the photo. You look well chuffed. I am a long way from trying a 10k race but not ruling it out

Well done! It's so different running in a real event, isn't it? I did one this morning too (a 5 mile road race in Oxford) and had great fun.

Well done Andy and great picture. I always find the end of races very emotional - what a journey many of us have taken to get there. And well done on the PB - icing on the cake!
