Today I did the 5k race for life, my first race. I got a bit excited at the beginning weaving through all the walkers (I got caught in the toilet line so joined the starting line right at the back) and had to slow down a bit as was already getting tired. I did walk on the hilly bits but mostly slow ran it with a couple of short sprints in. I had my tracking app going but it said I had only done 4.65km and the route was completely different to what I had actually done which was majorly annoying.
The main thing is after starting c25k on 27th april after 10 weeks of training I completed 5k in around 54 minutes something I never thought I could do. #proudmoment. After a celebratory meal out with husband and child and eating far to much i am resting my feet in the foot spa. I got some blisters so think I need some new running shoes again.

Well done on your first Race for Life! I did my first one a few weeks ago after starting C25K in April. I also had to weave in and out around the walkers, then avoid the fast runners coming back the other way! I also got a blister which is taking its time to go away. I'm currently trying Compeed which I've heard is good. I hope so as I don't really want the expense of buying running shoes!
Thank you 😁. Hope the compeed helps. Ah I know I feel the same but If I'm spending £40 every month or two I'm thinking paying a bigger expense but them lasting may be better
