From the dizzying heights of success...

Following on from the great feeling of completing my first race this week, I went out this morning to start my 10k training.

Park run was cancelled so good time to start I thought.

OMG, what an awful run. Not sure if it was the heat, tiredness, last nightS Chinese and Pimms, or the fact that I had walking intervals again but I really struggled and had to drag myself round.

Did stop 3 minutes before the end too which I have never had to do.

Maybe it was none of the above and just one of those crap runs that we have every now and again but feeling little disheartened.

Give yourself a chance, anything new is always tough at first. It is disheartening to feel back to square one a bit, but you're not, you're making the brave step to take your running up another level & the first step is often the hardest. It could be any or all of the factors you mention &/or just 'teething' difficulties. Hang in there & give yourself a pat on the back for getting out there & making a start towards that 10k x

We all get those runs. It's all part and parcel of being a runner isn't it? But it's done now and I bet the next one will be great. My hubby makes a lethal Pimms, extra strong, so one is enough! Oh, you just put me in the mood for one. No. No. No.

Go for the Pimms. It's v hot here so perfect weather!! Strawberry one is lovely xx

Hi Jules, hope you're feeling better this afternoon. You got out there and ran and that is an achievement in itself remember! I'm sure the next one will be better. Good on you for taking the step towards 10k 😃

Thanks Tracey.

Feeling better now, think the heat played a big part. It's baking in Suffolk today.

Awww, don't be too hard on yourself. We all have bad runs. Sometimes there's an obvious reason, sometimes not. Just get back out there and I'm sure you'll soon put it behind you x

I know, this weather's unpredictable at the moment isn't it?! I missed my group run last night as the heaven's opened half an hour before the run was due to start. It frustrated me as I don't get many chances to get out during the school holidays. So I dragged my 7 year old son out tonight - he was on his bike but didn't want to come as it looked like rain again! I got my 5k in, but not as fast as normal due to helping my son over roads etc. (37 mins). Bless him, I gave him a big hug when we got home, I was so glad to have got a run in! I'll be back with the group Wednesday. Fingers crossed no heavy rain (I don't mind light rain, in fact I prefer it to scorching sunshine!). Hope you have a fab next run x

Thank you. I was meant to run with a group for the first time tonight but had to come home from work ill this morning so had to miss it 😥

I love running in the rain, totally invigorating.

Good for your little man coming out. Bless him xxx
