Are compression shorts any use?

I have had hamstring pulls in the past (both legs) which has stopped me for 6 weeks each time and my hamstrings are feeling tight due to 2 weeks off (never below 30 degrees on holiday, so I didn't even attempt a run). I am wondering if the longer compression shorts (to the knee) would help protect hamstring muscles? I am not exactly sure what compression gear does. Does anyone use them and what do you think?

Maybe have a word with a sports physio, they should be able to advise you about this and what exercises you can do to keep your muscles loose and relaxed. Good luck :-)

I actually wear cycling shorts when running (well, the Karrimor running ones anyway) and tend to wear proper Skins compression shorts after my long runs to aid recovery. Works wonders that way
